Q:
Would it be problems for foods/clothings in Russia-Moscow ?
A:
Moscow has 4 Indian stores, where everything from dal to achar etc,
are available. There are few Indian restaurants, where Indian foods
are available. If students does not want to cook may order lunch
or dinner at a very reasonable rate. Plenty of other foods of various
tastes are available in Russian Stores.
Q:
What is the weather like in Moscow? What kind of clothes should
I bring?
A:
The weather in Moscow varies but there are 4 definite seasons in
Moscow (although Spring is kind of short). The winters are long
and cold and the summers hot. As far as what types of clothes to
bring, it depends on what time of the year it is but remember two
crucial key points about life in Moscow: 1) You will be walking
a lot; feet and public transportation are the main mode of transportation
around Moscow which means that your shoes will take a beating and
will get quite dirty, i.e. light colored shoes are not recommended
unless you don't mind washing them all the time. 2) The same goes
for clothes. Russians do wear bright things (shoes included), don't
get me wrong, but dirt naturally stands out more on brighter clothes
than it does on darker ones. So, you can see why a tendency toward
wearing darker clothes can be seen on the streets of Moscow. No
one wants to be washing their clothes every day!
Q:
How to contact my parents, friends and relatives ?
A:
Public telephones in Russia are coin-operated or card-operated.
Prepaid telephone cards are readily available in Russia and you
can buy them from newsagents, post offices and supermarkets.
Universal
recommend students to carry Mobile phones with them from India use
a pre-paid card in it. In some cases, making your international
calls using one of these cards could work out cheaper than using
the main phone service provider.
Q:
Can a student cook his own food if he decides not to eat in the
mess?
A:
YES, the students can cook their own food at the common kitchen
that is provided by the hostel on every floor. The kitchen is provided
with hot plates/gas stoves, cutting tables, washing sinks etc.
Q:
Who will be accompanying the student from airport till he reaches
to the university?
A:
The representative of the university would be at the airport to
receive the students. He would be at the Airport with a placard
having the name of the student and would be at the Airport to
receive the students. He would then take the students to the university
for the further process of the documentation including paying of
the fees directly to the university and then to the hostel
room allotted to him after official process is over.
Q:
Is their any facility for student in paying the fees in installments?
A:
YES, it would be possible for the student to pay the University
fees in installments. He would have to
pay half of the fees at the beginning of the first semester
when he would go for the first time in September and the balance
at the starting of the second semester in February. However this
facility is at the discretion of the university.
